xxxRV Care - A- Vanners

Habitat For Humanity International’s RV Care-A-Vanner program offers anyone who travels in a recreational vehicle the opportunity to help build houses with families in need, tour America, make a difference and have fun while doing it.  The RV Care-A-Vanner program welcomes people of all ages and from all walks of life who are ready to pick up a hammer and help change lives (no experience necessary) Please visit www.habitat.org/rv/ for more information regarding this program and how members get involved.

If you are planning a trip to Phenix City; please call (334) 448 8275.  We would like to confirm the length of your stay, arrange for accommodations, verify any dietary needs and answer any additional questions you all may have.  We are again very excited you are coming to work with our affiliate and look forward to meeting you soon!

The RV Park:

HFHRC has established a partnership with Eric Ward & Ponderosa Trailer Park.  However, members are welcome to arrange for their own lodging elsewhere if they so choose.  The campground at Fort Benning is also a popular spot.

Hook-up fees at the Ponderosa RV Park are $25/week and include water, power and sewage drop.

Mr. Ward needs to be notified in advance when the groups/couples will be arriving in order to make sure that there are spaces available and enough room in the park.

(The RV Park is located on Ponderosa Drive – off of HWY 80W in Ladonia.  Ponderosa Drive is on your Left in between Piggly Wiggly Shopping Center and Ladonia Baptist Church.)

While Visiting/weekend and free time:

Phenix City is in prime location to visit Chewacla State Park (Auburn, AL), Callaway Gardens (Pine Mountain, GA), explore the River Walk in Columbus and tour FDR Warm Springs. Many of our Care-A-Vanners are repeat guests and may already have an idea for weekend activities.  Additionally, we are not far from Americus, GA (about 60 miles), HFH Headquarters and the RV Care-A-Vanner info desk.  Americus offers the Discovery Center – a tour and model of the homes that Habitat builds around the world.

To get to Americus and the Discovery Center, travelers can take US280 East through Columbus, Richland, Preston and Plains into Americus.  Here they will travel straight across Hwy 19 intersection, veer to the right onto Church St and approach The Discovery Center on the left.
